Yorkshire-Terriers

Yorkshire-Terriers are affectionately known as " Yorkies they offer big personalities in a Small package.

The Yorkshire-Terrier is one of the most popular breeds according to AKC statistics and the number #2 dog in the world for the 2nd year straight. They became a fashionable pet in the late Victorian era and before, they were used in the 19th century to catch rats in clothing mills and belonged to the working class especially weavers and eventually the breed left the workforce and became a companion animal to families of European high society.

Yorkies are highly intelligent, brave, determined, investigative and energetic.

The earliest record of a Yorkshire-Terrier being born in the United States dates to 1872

Yorkies are easily adaptable to all surroundings, they travel well, and make suitable pets for most homes. Due to their small size they require limited excercise, but DO NEED interaction with their people ( FAMILY ).

The Yorkies confident manner should give the appearance of vigor and self-importance.

YORKIES COLORS!

Babies are born Black and Tan once matured they may be Steel blue and Tan, black and tan nose is Black, eyes medium in size, dark in color sparkling with a sharp intelligent expression, eye-rims dark, ears V-shaped, and Black toe-nails.

Yorkies hair is glossy, fine and silky in texture.

Their body hair can be allowed to grow moderately long ( FLOOR LENGTH ) or trimmed short for a neater appearance.

Care of the ears!

Remember to keep the hair trimmed on the top third of the ear flap so the hair does not weigh the ears down ( and they will stand firmly set) usually for the first 6 months of age.

YORKIES HAIR!

Yorkies have only one layer of hair ( most dogs have 2 layers) and their hair is the closest to human hair than any other animal so they really loose no more hair in a day than we do.

Lap Dog!

Yorkies are a lap dog in that they prefer to be held on their owners lap all day or as long as you are with them and are a true and loyal companion, they require minimal exercise

Toy Breed!

Yorkies are a toy breed and they are quick to learn BUT can be willful sometime.
